Budd Lake

Budd Lake (374 acres) is in Mount Olive Township, Morris County. It is a glacial lake, and is the source of the South Branch of the Raritan River. Most of the shoreline is privately owned. The only public launch site is next to the beach in the southwest corner of the lake.

The water is murky, and there is much road noise from the busy highway that goes along the south side of the lake. But the north side of the lake is far enough away from the road to be quiet. Part of the northern shoreline is in the Budd Lake Bog Preserve, which is a floating mass of plants. It is pretty.
