Lost Lake

Lost Lake is a large beaver pond in Jefferson Township, Morris County. It is in the Rockaway River Wildlife Management Area. The lake consists of two sections: To the south there is a large round bowl, while to the north the lake is long and narrow. All of the lake is extremely shallow, except where the beavers have dug channels. The lake is pretty, and very wild.

To access Lost Lake, park in the Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, then hike over the hill to the east. Not all of the trails are marked, and some of the trails are not on any maps, so be careful. Once at the lake, launch where you can. No place is very good.
