Washington Valley Reservoir

Washington Valley Reservoir (21 acres) is an old disused reservoir in Bridgewater Township, Somerset County. It is in Washington Valley Park (719 acres), which is run by the Somerset County Park Commission. The lake is pretty, but there is some road noise near the dam. To access the reservoir, park on Newmans Lane, then walk through the woods for a few minutes to the launch site.

The reservoir has two sections, so the pictures below are divided accordingly. The main reservoir is rectangular shaped, with low woody hills on either side. The water is murky. It is free of waterlilies, but there are many oxygen weeds. The brook that flows into the reservoir is different in character. The water is very clear, and there are no weeds.
