Ramapo Lake
Ramapo Lake (120 acres) is a man-made lake in Wanaque, Morris County. It is in Ramapo Mountain State Forest. To access the lake one has to park on Skyline Drive, then hike up the mountain for twenty minutes. The effort is worth it. The lake is sublime.
There are many launch sites. The most convenient is next to the dam. In late summer, the southern third of the lake is an impenetrable mess of waterlilies.

The walk up to the lake is quite pretty. It helps if you like rocks. Also bears.
