Ramapo River
The Ramapo River is a tributary of the Pompton River. In New Jersey, it flows southwest along the east side of the ridge of the Ramapo Mountains. The river is pretty, but not always easy to navigate.
Suffern to Halifax Road
Launch at the end of Catherine Avenue in Suffern. One may have to portage through some shallow sections, and also around a few short drop offs. There will be a lot of road noise.
Halifax Road to Ramapo Reservation
The river is very pretty. There is little road noise. There will be obstructions and some shallow sections. It can be hard to follow the main channel.
Ramapo Reservation to Glen Gray Road
The river flows into a long narrow lake. There is a dam at the end - portage on the east side. This will be followed by a second dry dam. Climb over. There may be obstructions. The river is pretty. There is little road noise.
