White's Pond

White’s Pond (8 acres) is in Andover Township, Sussex County. It is one of four lakes in Kittatinny Valley State Park where one can go kayaking. Except one can’t go kayaking when there is a drought, because most of the lake is very shallow. The following pictures were taken in early May, when the lake was full. There was some road noise from the nearby highway, but the lake was wonderfully wild.

To access White’s Pond, park at the Sussex Branch (rail-trail) trailhead on Route 206. Walk north for about 500 yards. There will be a short trail going off to the left. Take it to the dam and the launch site.
