Whippany River
The Whippany River is a 20 mile long tributary of the Passaic River. Most of the river is not accessible. The section in Morris Township (upriver from Speedwell Lake) is both accessible and very beautiful. But it is not navigable - on account of all the trees obstructing the waterway.
We started at Lake Valley Road, and tried to paddle upriver to Sussex Avenue. The current was not strong, but the trees obstructing were too numerous and too difficult. We gave up approximately half-way, just before Inamere Road.
