Speedwell Lake
Speedwell Lake (24 acres) is in Morristown, Morris County. It is in Speedwell Park. The lake is pretty. But the Whippany River, which flows into the lake, is divine. If the water is high enough, one can paddle upstream for approximately a mile to the Lake Valley Road Bridge. There may be a few obstructions and shallow sections, but nothing too bad.
Access Speedwell Lake by parking in Speedwell Park, off Speedwell Avenue. There is no kayak launch site as such, but there are plenty of places to launch from the walkway that goes next to the lake. Stay away from the people fishing. One can also launch at the Lake Valley Road Bridge.
