Lower Blue Mtn Lake
Lower Blue Mtn Lake (15 acres) is a pretty man-made lake in Walpack Township, Sussex County. It is in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
Access to the lake is via the nearby Flatbrookville Stillwater Road (rte. 624). The lake is an approximately ten-minute walk from the parking lot on a relatively easy trail. But be aware that there are many other trails in the area that go to other places. Few of them are marked. Bring a map.
June Visit
The following pictures were taken on a visit in early June, when the lake was full.
October Visit
The following pictures were taken in October, when the water level was two feet below the spillway.
What’s in a Name
Lower Blue Mountain Lake is sometimes referred to as Blue Mountain Lake. There is no Upper Blue Mountain Lake. It was planned, but never built. The area is now a swamp. The general area is often called Blue Mountain Lakes - even though there is only one lake.
