Splitrock Reservoir
Splitrock Reservoir (650 acres) is in Rockaway Township, Morris County. It is in the Wildcat Ridge Wildlife Management Area. It provides water for Jersey City. The reservoir is three miles long, with many islands. There is a man-made dam at the southwest end of the reservoir, near the launch site. The prettiest part is at the far end.
Access
The reservoir is reached by traveling along a mile on a dirt road known as Split Rock Road. The parking lot is near the dam, and about 100 yards from the water. Kayaks have to be carried through the woods down to the dock.
