Greenwood Lake

Greenwood Lake (1918 acres) is in the Township of West Milford, Passaic County. Having said this, most of the lake is in New York State. The only legal launch site on public land is in Browns Point Park, near the south end of the lake. The park is owned by the state, but is maintained by the township. There is no boat ramp. Launch where you wish.

Greenwood Lake is pretty, but there may be strong winds. There are oodles of motorboats on the lake, so there also may be wakes. We visited on a weekday during school season, so we enjoyed a calm lake (see pictures below). We paddled north, around Fox Island, and then back.
