Willow Crest Lake

Willow Crest Lake (27 acres) is a man-made lake in Stillwater Township, Sussex County. It is in Swartswood State Park. Most of the lake is covered in weeds, even early in the season. But the beavers have made channels throughout the lake, which one can use to explore. The lake has two branches. The one to the west is pretty. The one to the east is sublime.

To access Willow Crest Lake, park in the parking lot on Hampton Road, then walk through the woods (on a marked trail) for thirty minutes. The only decent launch site is approximately two hundred yards from the dam - where the trail gets close to the lake.

Getting There

The trail through the woods to the lake is passes through a diversity of second-growth forest. It is quite pretty.
