Lake Lookout

Lake Lookout is a pretty little man-made lake in Vernon Township, Sussex County. It is in Wawayanda State Park. The lake is wonderfully wild. The aquatic vegetation is unusual for local lakes, with several large grassy areas, but very few waterlilies.

To access Lake Lookout, park in the lot next to the boathouse on Wawayanda Lake. There are many trails that one can take. The Wingdam Trail is arguably the easiest and most direct. The Wawayanda Lake Loop Trail is longer, but more scenic. Assume two hours of fairly hard hiking each way. Launch where you can.
