Monksville Reservoir
Monksville Reservoir (505 acres) is in West Milford, Passaic County. It is also in Long Pond Ironworks State Park. It is a large lake with three launch sites: The two nearest the dam are in the state Park. The car-top launch site at the far end of the lake is in Tranquility Ridge County Park.
Lower Reservoir, near Dam
The section of the reservoir near the dam is pretty, but also quite large. There are few coves.
Upper Reservoir
The section of the reservoir that is north of the Greenwood Lake Turnpike bridge is like a small pond. It has many coves that one can explore. But one must take care, because there are numerous tree stumps both above and below the water. It is like kayaking in a minefield.
